Momentum in Motion

STEVE RUSSO

March marks the shift from endurance to momentum.

In the Inland Northwest, it is the stretch between winter endurance and spring momentum. Snow begins to recede, daylight lingers a little longer, and conversations shift from surviving the season to building what is next. There is energy in that transition.

This issue reflects that forward movement. You will find stories centered on growth, preparation, and local leadership. Builders are thinking ahead to a busy construction season. Business owners are refining their focus. Event organizers are bringing the community back together after a long winter.

Our region does not wait for perfect conditions. We adapt, adjust, and move. That resilience defines North Idaho and Eastern Washington. It defines the entrepreneurs who keep investing here, the families who continue to plant roots here, and the organizations that serve consistently year after year.

As you move through this issue, consider what March means to you. Resetting priorities. Launching an idea. Strengthening relationships. Preparing your home, your business, or your calendar for what the warmer months will demand.

Thank you for continuing to support local businesses and the stories that shape this community. The months ahead will move quickly. The work you begin now carries into everything that follows.

From Yard to Living Space

Exterior design, construction timing, and the rise of functional outdoor rooms

By Like Media Team

xterior space has become part of the floor plan. What was once treated as an open yard or secondary patio is now planned, financed, and constructed with the same intention as interior living areas. The shift has moved beyond trend and into standard practice.

March marks the point when exterior projects move from inspiration to contract. Measurements are finalized. Budgets are allocated. Contractor schedules begin to lock in. Structural decisions are made before peak demand compresses timelines.

The design evolution is visible in the architecture itself. Open patios are being replaced with defined outdoor rooms. Rooflines extend to create continuity between interior and exterior space. Pergolas establish framework and proportion. Partial enclosures introduce separation without eliminating airflow. Built-in seating replaces temporary arrangements. Lighting is integrated into beams, stair risers, and pathways...

oya Child & Family Development describes itself as a space to cultivate care and the joy of learning. As a nonprofit organization, pediatric therapy provider, and Spokane’s only Neurodevelopmental Center of Excellence, Joya helps local children thrive, and families feel empowered with its unique blend of special education services and therapies.

“The Spring Gala and Auction brings together over 500 guests for an evening of fun and inspiration,” shares Krista Caro, Director of Advancement at Joya.

The event is Joya’s largest fundraiser and helps ensure the organization can continue serving any child in Spokane who needs their services, regardless of family income. “Joya is continually enhancing our programs to benefit our community, and funds raised at the Spring Gala & Auction allow us to grow and respond to the evolving needs of kiddos and families here in Spokane,” Krista explains. “The Spring Gala supports every child in our program by allowing us to provide our program to any child or family who needs us.”

Krista emphasizes that guests play an integral role in helping Spokane’s most vulnerable children access the therapies and services they...

Spring Energy

Rebuilding vitality, immune strength, and mental clarity as routines shift into early spring

BY LIKE MEDIA TEAM

he shift into early spring is subtle but noticeable. Evenings stretch longer. Air moves more freely through open windows. After months of slower winter rhythms, the body begins searching for steadiness and forward motion.

Seasonal transition does not require dramatic resets. Small recalibrations in daily habits allow vitality to rebuild gradually. When routines align with increasing light and movement, energy returns steadily and sustainably.

Strengthening Immunity After Winter

Colder months often involve heavier meals, less sunlight, and more time indoors. As daylight increases, immune resilience benefits from renewed attention.

Whole foods rich in vitamin C, zinc, and antioxidants help reinforce internal balance. Citrus, leafy greens, fermented vegetables, and mineral-rich broths contribute to gut health, which plays a central role in immune function. Hydration also deserves focus as activity levels rise. Consistent water...
